About Matt
I have been a lead A-level teacher of both Politics and Philosophy at a large A-level college for over a decade and have tutored students 1:1 online for 5 years. I have a particular expertise in the US politics aspects of the Politics A-Level but am equally proficient in all other areas of the Philosophy (AQA) and Politics (Edexcel & AQA) specifications. Those I tutor have consistently exceeded their minimum target grades and made improvement in both their understanding and academic skills.

Online lessons and tutoring tailored on a weekly and reflective basis to individual students. My aim is always to maintain a balance between reviewing & clarifying exam-specific content, exploring relevant examples and case studies, and developing essay & assessment skills. Usual lesson length is 1 hour and methodology is mainly discursive and evaluative in focus. My aim is always to establish a pace and approach to lessons that is supportive and beneficial for the individual student. I will therefore utilise a range of teaching methods and be adaptive in my practice to respond to the need and learning style of each individual student. My aim is never to seek to replace or replicate the student's classroom learning but supplement the individual's prior learning.

I had Matt as my politics teacher for a year in college and he was so great. He is incredibly knowledgeable across a number of areas of Politics and is always ready with examples and simplified explanations when needed. he made learning fun and engaging and ensured his students always fully understood. I would definitely recommend his teaching!
Matt taught me the American Unit of my A level politics class and I can honestly say its difficult to find a teacher who knows the contents on their course quite as well as he does. Any questions we had he could answer and elaborate on, majority of examples and case studies he could remember at the drop of a hat. As a teacher he was always very good fun to learn with, would make useful and interesting challenges to any views/points we had to create debate, and could always make time to help us individually when needed. Highly recommended matt, 1st class teacher.
I highly recommend Matt as a politics teacher and tutor. He is incredibly knowledgable on politics content including some of the most challenging aspects like systems , ideologies and case studies.Over the two years he has taught me, he has provided structured and engaging lessons helping me to practice exam structure and revise content. When I have found ideas and concepts difficult to understand he has taken the time to explain them and break them down.If anyone is finding politics difficult then I would strongly advise to book a session with him as he is able to simplify challenging concepts and knows what is required of exam boards to get the highest grades.
I would highly recommend Matt as he gives detailed and useful feedback, in an engaging manner, that allows feedback to be easily understood and put into practise in order to boost grades. He keeps learning interesting whilst making sure it is relevant and beneficial to students.
Truly amazing tutor
Took the time to teach me in a way that my teachers didn’t understand that I needed and boosted my grade in politics from a U to a B
Not only this but also took an interest in my personal life and always checked in on how I was doing before every sessionView more recommendations
