About Ana Filipa
My name is Ana Filipa, and I am an artist and illustrator who has been passionate about art since I first held a pencil and paper. With a university degree in Art and Design and over 10 years of professional experience in graphic design and illustration for both national and international markets, I also have a strong foundation in painting, drawing, and illustration, developed through practical studio courses.
As an art teacher and coach, I offer empathetic and inspiring guidance, tailoring each class to suit the goals, skill levels, and interests of each student. I believe that art is accessible to everyone, and my mission is to help each person develop their unique talent and style in a creative and effective way, within a relaxed and supportive environment.
Dedicated to the quality of teaching and the artistic growth of my students, I am constantly expanding my knowledge to refine my approach and provide a rich, personalised learning experience.

Environment and Methodology
Classes take place in an informal, relaxed, and accessible setting, welcoming students of all ages and experience levels. Our aim is not only to provide a space for technical learning but also to foster a rich exchange of artistic knowledge and experiences.
Content and Objectives
1. Drawing: You’ll develop a deeper understanding of essential materials and techniques, building confidence in your drawing skills. We cover everything from basic concepts, such as line quality and types of lines, to advanced topics like understanding shapes, planes, and proportions. Together, we’ll explore the use of light and shadow and tailor techniques to your chosen theme, ensuring a structured approach to achieving your creative goals.
2. Watercolour Painting: You’ll receive guidance on selecting materials suited to your level and budget, along with a comprehensive plan covering watercolour fundamentals: water control and drying times, brush techniques on both dry and wet paper, layering, and transparency. Additionally, we’ll explore special techniques to create textures with materials like salt and rice, enhancing the creative possibilities of your watercolour work.
3. Illustration: This course helps you build essential skills for creating expressive, impactful images. You’ll learn how to guide the viewer's eye through an image—a crucial principle for effective drawing, painting, and commercial illustration. We’ll also cover colour theory, including primary and secondary colours, the colour wheel, and combinations such as analogous and complementary colours.
