About Berk
I am a mathematician and engineer with a passion for problem-solving and teaching. With a background in applied mathematics and engineering, I have taught at the University of Birmingham and designed an online data science course, ensuring it was inclusive and accessible to a diverse range of students. My teaching qualifications include the Horizon Award from HEFi, which recognises my training in in-class teaching, supporting international students, and making lessons inclusive for all learners. I want to teach because I understand how challenging maths can sometimes feel, and I believe that with the right approach, anyone can succeed. I have a strong grasp of all areas of mathematics, particularly algebra, derivatives, and integrals, and my engineering background allows me to teach physics effectively with real-world applications. I take a structured yet flexible approach to teaching maths, ensuring that each lesson is tailored to the student’s needs and learning style. With a strong foundation in all areas of mathematics, I particularly excel in algebra, calculus (derivatives and integrals), and problem-solving techniques. My engineering background also allows me to teach physics effectively, providing real-world applications that make concepts more intuitive and engaging. Previously, I created an online data science course with a focus on inclusivity, which has made me highly aware of the diverse needs of students. I am always happy to adapt my teaching style, pace, and explanations to ensure that each student gains confidence and a deep understanding of the subject. Whether preparing for exams or building fundamental skills, I aim to make learning both effective and enjoyable.
