About Ben
I’m a second-year Physics student at the University of Glasgow, having achieved Advanced Highers in both Maths and Physics. I’ve enjoyed helping classmates and younger students with these subjects for several years and have developed a clear, patient way of explaining difficult concepts. I prepare thoroughly for each lesson and adapt my approach to each student’s learning style, so they feel supported and make steady progress. My aim is to help students not only achieve their target grades but also build confidence in their own ability to learn and solve problems.

I am a second-year Physics student at the University of Glasgow offering one-to-one tutoring in Maths and Physics for students preparing for GCSE, National 5, A-level, Higher and Advanced Higher exams. Having completed Advanced Highers in both subjects myself, I understand the challenges at each stage and how to make the jump to the next level with clear, structured learning.
My teaching draws on a few simple but powerful ideas from cognitive science. I use active recall—regular questioning and problem solving—to strengthen memory, and spaced repetition so that key topics are revisited at the right time to make them stick. Mind-mapping helps students see how concepts connect, and I use the principles of cognitive load theory to keep lessons focused and manageable. The aim is to create a steady sense of progress without overwhelming you.
Lessons typically last about an hour and are tailored to each student’s goals, whether that’s preparing for an exam, mastering a tricky topic, or building confidence in problem solving. My aim is not only to help you achieve strong results, but to give you study habits that will keep paying off long after these exams are over.
