About Grace

I am a student at Brandeis University studying Classical Studies and Philosophy. I started tutoring in middle school, helping elementary students with their homework, and that path has continued and still continues today. I take my work very seriously and consider the success of my student/your child's success extremely important. Not only am I capable of improving grades, I am also capable of teaching skills that will prove beneficial in the greater scheme of one's academic career. I challenge my students to go beyond what they think themselves capable of, and have seen them benefit massively from this support.

About the lesson

I approach each topic by determining your foundation and building off of what you already know.
I have been studying Latin for 7+ years and have won awards for excelling on the NJCL tests. I have studied Latin at the undergraduate and graduate level, and I also have a few years experience tutoring Latin. Whether it be grammar or vocabulary, I cater specifically to the needs of the student, making sure that the student understands and learns whatever he/she finds difficult.
I received a perfect score on the SAT Writing section and scored in the 99th percentile in the reading section. Though these are scores from the old SAT (2016), I believe that the skills necessary to do well on these sections remain the same, and therefore would like to help those who want to improve their scores. From time management on the actual exam to ways to boost scores, I have experience helping students do their best on their SATs and am confident that students will benefit from our sessions.
Help on essays for class, the SATs, or writing in general is all under my radar. I have edited and proofread essays for many students, their levels ranging from high school to masters program levels. Though I would suggest meeting specifically for the sake of learning how to improve one's writing rather than to receive editing and proofreading on next-day assignments, I am more than willing to go over essays and assignments and help you how to improve your work.
I have played piano for more than a decade and have been teaching for more than 5. I began playing professionally at the age of 12 and have continued to do so, and with experience playing with professional musicians and learning alongside music professors at a young age, my piano skills have significantly improved. I teach not only how to read music and how to play the piano, but I also teach theory (from beginner to higher levels) and if the student is willing, songwriting, as I have 7 years experience doing that. I love music and love the piano, and it would please me very much to share that to those who wish to enjoy music through the piano as well.

Details

If traveling takes more than 15 minutes, I require a $5 cost of travel in addition to my tutoring time. I have a 24-hr cancellation policy, and I also require that lessons are scheduled at least three days to a week in advance - the earlier the better.
