About Nathaniel

I am a dedicated piano tutor with 7 years of experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Music. My passion for teaching comes from a deep appreciation for the piano’s expressive range and a desire to help others discover their own musical voice. I strive to create a space where students feel inspired to learn, improve, and enjoy the journey of making music. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to work with students of all ages and skill levels. From young beginners learning their first notes to adults returning to piano after years away, I enjoy adapting my teaching style to suit each individual's needs and goals. My approach is structured yet flexible, blending discipline with encouragement to foster both technical growth and personal expression. I place strong emphasis on musical fundamentals—technique, theory, and sight-reading—while also encouraging creativity and interpretation. Music should never feel rigid or mechanical, and I guide my students to explore dynamics, phrasing, and musical storytelling in their playing. I believe these elements are what transform notes into music. What I enjoy most about teaching is witnessing students gain confidence and experience moments of real connection through their playing. It’s fulfilling to watch their progress unfold and to know I’ve contributed to their musical journey. As a lifelong learner myself, I’m always seeking new ways to bring fresh energy and insight into my teaching.

About the lesson

Piano lessons are designed to suit students of all levels, from complete beginners to more experienced players looking to refine their technique and musical understanding. In the initial stages, we focus on developing proper hand positioning, finger strength, and basic note-reading. These foundational elements help create confidence and ensure that students develop good habits early on.

As students progress, we dive deeper into music theory, rhythm, and expressive playing. Repertoire becomes more diverse, covering classical pieces, popular music, and student-selected works to maintain interest and motivation. Each lesson emphasizes both technical skill and emotional expression, helping students become well-rounded musicians.

Lessons are always tailored to meet individual goals. Whether preparing for formal music exams, learning for personal enjoyment, or working toward public performances, I adapt content and pacing to each learner. Sight-reading and ear training are incorporated regularly to support musical independence and fluency.

The learning environment is supportive, creative, and structured to encourage steady progress. I aim to make lessons engaging while nurturing a lifelong appreciation for music. With consistent practice, clear goals, and personalized guidance, students build confidence and deepen their connection to the piano.
