About Emily
Teaching guitar for 8 years has shown that music teaches more than just how to play an instrument—it teaches focus, discipline, creativity, and expression. These are lessons that stay with students far beyond the music room. Lessons are always student-centered. That means listening to what the student wants, adapting to how they learn, and building trust through encouragement. Whether a student wants to jam with friends, play classical pieces, or write their own songs, lessons are crafted to support those goals. A favorite teaching moment was helping a shy student create her first original song. She didn’t think she had the skills to write music, but step by step, we worked through the chords, melody, and lyrics. When she finally played it with confidence, it was a powerful reminder of how far music can take someone. The approach includes clear explanations, simple practice routines, and lots of real-life music. Students also learn how to listen better, express emotions through their playing, and stay motivated through challenges. In the end, guitar lessons are about helping students enjoy the journey of music while growing into confident, expressive individuals.

Students retain better when they learn by doing, and what better way to do that than through songs? My method revolves around learning guitar through real songs that match the student's interest and level. We build skills like strumming, picking, and chord transitions by dissecting these songs. I blend music theory into each session so students don’t just play—they understand what they’re playing.
I include related instruments like Piano and Ukulele for learners who want to explore different sounds. My approach adapts to the pace and style of the student, ensuring they are never overwhelmed or bored. Regular feedback, encouragement, and fun challenges are integral to my lessons. Communication and adaptation are key—no two students are the same, and I’m here to support each unique journey.
