Hi my name is Sue, with a background in graphic design and a deep respect for the craft of print, I bring hands-on experience in traditional and digital print production. My focus is on teaching the foundational principles that underpin quality design—from pre-press to final output—while equipping students with the practical skills and critical eye needed in today’s evolving print landscape. I specialize in packaging, with over 30 years of experience across all print processes and pre-press production. My focus is on training preparation—from Photoshop retouching and image production to setting up print-ready files, color management, die lines, and detailed worksmaps. I bring a practical, industry-tested approach grounded in decades of hands-on expertise.

For Graphic Designers. Print Production Online classes. For: Your individual level requirements (New to print designers – right through to individual specific troubleshooting requirements.) If you are needing only one aspect or all print formats. I have the expertise to 'niche tutor' you. Class length 1 hour. (Shorter half hour on request.) Tutor Offerings: 1. Adobe Photoshop for Print. - Retouching for print (not web). Image resolution and color correction (CMYK vs RGB) Preparing images for large-scale formats, color restrictions (spot colors), file formats. 2. Pre-Press & File Setup. - Correct file formats (PDF/ and industry standards). Bleed, crop marks, trim areas. Overprint, trapping, and imposition basics. 3. Packaging Design. - Creating die lines and works maps Setting up multi-panel designs (boxes, sleeves, labels). Working with spot colors, varnishes, foils and embossing. 4. Color Management. - CMYK, Pantone, and spot colors Color proofing and matching. ICC profiles. 5. Print Processes. - Understanding offset, digital, screen, flexo printing, IML (In Mold Labeling), Gravure, Web, Large format printing. Pros/cons of each for different materials. How to design for the print method (ink limits, substrates). • Practical software skills in Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, InDesign) • Real-world production knowledge. • Industry insights—how to avoid costly mistakes.
