About Judith

I am currently a part-time professor at Mohawk College for GIS (Intro to Intermediate courses). These principles of foundational GIS skills are a core part of my passion and I am eager to share the discipline with students.
In 2020, I completed a Master's degree in Geography using GIS, and previously completed a technical diploma in GIS with a focus in community and environmental planning. In addition, I have worked for entrepreneurial and/or community-supported organizations where maps and spatial thinking are valuable. I studied art history and anthropology in addition to geography during my undergraduate degree (BA) at Mount Allison University.

About the lesson

With an MA in Geography and Diploma in GIS, I am trained in cartographic design and data management. This skillset has empowered past students to enhance their capstone GIS projects in unique ways, and encouraged others to bring a routine lab assignment up to a higher standard of accuracy. My methods encourage 'human-centered design' as a style of considering the end user of any product, idea, or process required. This is valuable for geography when considering the context of how and why world events impact the global community politically, socially, creatively, and economically.

Perfect! I was stuck on an excercise in a Practical I had for a GIS module for about a week and I had essentially gave up on solving it. Judith helped me sort it out within the course of a half an hour.
