About Francis
I was born and raised in Warsaw, Poland and moved to California for college. I have started playing the Horn in 4th grade in Warsaw, Poland. Currently, as an International student at Azusa Pacific University, I am further exploring Horn performance. The ability to live and study both in Europe and the United States, allowed me to gain a broad perspective on approaching music education, and playing the French Horn in particular.
As an instrumentalist who was able to study music in two different education systems (European and American), I have a perspective on different approach to the art of Horn Playing. Having a wide idea on techniques used by Horn players around the world, allows me to constantly look for, and try, different methods of music performance.

Lessons would be focusing on beginning and intermediate players. In lessons I would like to focus mainly on basic breathing techniques, tone quality, range flexibility, and internal growth as a musician.
It is incredibly important to find an individual approach to music performance. Taking out the best ideas from both systems allowed me to create a solid idea on how I want to grow as a musician. I would like share with others the methods I learned throughout my musical journey.
European approach allowed me to grow as a soloist. In lessons I would like to focus on solo repertoire and individual approach to music performance. American idea of teaching, on the other hand, helped me realize how important group playing is. Playing duets helps grow potential ensemble players. It would definitely be an important aspect of my teaching methods and repertoire selection for student.
Another aspect of growing as a musician is gaining knowledge in music theory. It is important to know how closely theory and Horn playing is related. Lessons would also touch on basic topics from music theory courses (such as intervals, scales, rhythm). In order to improve in sight reading and playing correctly partials on the instrument, students would be getting training in singing as well.
Lesson materials would be provided in the beginning. As student improves, exercise books, and etudes would be necessary to get.
