About Seden
Hi! I’m Seden, a fourth-year Psychology (BSc Hons) student at the University of Edinburgh. Originally from Istanbul, I’ve been living and studying in the UK for nearly five years. Before university, I completed an International Foundation Programme here, which gave me a strong understanding of academic expectations in the UK — and also taught me a lot about navigating student life in a new system. I’m a social, easygoing person and people often describe me as friendly, engaging, and adaptable. I genuinely enjoy connecting with others and creating a supportive space where you feel encouraged to ask questions and think things through in your own way. I’ve also volunteered across Europe since I was 16, working with people from all kinds of backgrounds on projects related to social good. This has made me a confident communicator in multicultural environments. English is my second language (I also speak B2-level French), so I understand how hard it can be to learn complex topics in another language — and how to approach them with clarity and patience. My aim as a tutor isn’t just to teach psychology, but to help you connect with it in a way that actually makes sense and feels meaningful. I keep things interactive — asking questions from different angles, drawing on real-life examples, and exploring how each topic fits into the bigger picture. Whether you're feeling stuck on a tricky concept, preparing for an exam, or just need someone to talk things through with, my goal is to help make the process feel less overwhelming and more doable. If you're struggling with statistics, I’ve got you there too! Throughout my degree, I’ve worked a lot with R Studio, statistical concepts, and writing research reports — and I know it can be confusing at first. But once you understand the why behind the numbers, it all starts to come together. Above all, I believe learning shouldn’t feel like a constant uphill battle or something that drains and stresses you out. It should be something that makes your life easier and more meaningful. I focus not just on what needs to be learnt, but why — helping you shift from pressure to purpose and find your own rhythm for understanding and growth.

My teaching style is interactive and flexible. I like to explore topics by asking questions from different angles, helping students connect with the material, make sense of the reasoning behind it, and see how it fits into the bigger picture. I’m not just here to teach content — my aim is to help you truly understand it and feel confident using it. In our first lesson, we’ll start by getting to know each other. I’ll ask about your goals, what topics you feel comfortable with, what’s been more challenging, and how you learn best. Then we’ll build a study plan tailored to your strengths, learning style, and the areas you want to improve in — making things feel clearer and less overwhelming. Throughout our sessions, I’ll bring in real-life examples and practical applications to show how psychological concepts appear in everyday life. It’s not just about memorising theories — it’s about making them click. I also offer support with statistics in psychology, particularly using R Studio. I know how tricky it can be to understand data analysis, so I can help you grasp the logic behind the most commonly used statistical tools in psychology — from interpreting outputs to understanding how statistical decisions connect to research questions. Lesson length: 1 hour (60 minutes) For: High school (GCSE, A-Level) or university-level psychology students
