About Breanna

I've been writing stories ever since I could form letters on a page, and while my first novels definitely needed a bit of work, over the past twenty years I've studied creative writing. After taking a few writing courses myself, I've been published in several blogs online, including Hooked on Books. I also run my own writing business, Scripturients, where I aim to help people just like you achieve their writing goals. While I specialize in creative writing, I'm also well versed in blogging, freelance writing, essays, and articles.

About the lesson

The most important thing about writing is that it's individual. I can teach you grammar, how to develop loveable characters, or how to break into the freelance world. All that's important and a big part of writing, yes, but my lessons are designed to bring out the artist in you.

Writing is more than just knowing how to write good sentences. It's an incredibly personal art form, and there's no "one size fits all" formula. Unfortunately, this is where most writing classes fall flat, and most writers end up giving up. We try to fit ourselves into a format that we've heard works (like waking up at 5AM, which is definitely not my thing). Instead, what we need to be doing is learning how to use our own strengths, how to listen to ourselves, and how that translates onto a page.

So yes, I teach sentence structure. I teach world building, character arcs, story development, and plotting. All of that is an important part of writing, and we can't ignore that. But what I really teach is how to access the writer inside of you - the one that you have been all along. Working with your strengths and goals in mind, my aim is to not only make you a better writer, but to help you develop your unique sense of art and style.

Lessons will all be planned around what's most relevant to you. What would you like to learn about creative writing? Are you stuck on a current project? Let's talk through it. Writer's block? Let's tackle that monster head on. I'm here to go at your pace, discussing the aspects of writing that are the most relevant to you at any given moment. Not sure where to start? I've got your back. It's all good. We're here to work together to get you to where you want to be with your writing.

Of course, we also have a lot of fun along the way. Because honestly, what's the point if we didn't?
