About Birgit

I am an enthusiastic, active professional violinist myself and have been teaching for over 30 years, so I have a wealth of experience and literature. I hold three music diplomas: in instrumental pedagogy, in artistic maturity, and in chamber music. I am a member of various ensembles (classical, ambient, klezmer, and others).

About the lesson

I provide a very solid technical and musical foundation, which is connected to the breath. A lively sound and enjoyment of every note are important to me, regardless of level.
I offer various styles (Baroque, Classical, Pop, Klezmer, Gypsy).
I would also be happy to show you improvisation on the violin. Lessons will be in english or german.

My motto: "Music is learned through music" (Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy). Boring etudes and soulless exercises are not part of my curriculum. It is important to me to understand and play even a simple scale, for example, as soulful music.

A lesson typically consists of the following:
- Repetition of what has already been learned
- Introduction of new elements with the help of image-rich
exercises, e.g., new playing techniques, optimizing
movement sequences, rhythmic understanding, bowing
technique, layering technique, breath integration, a
feeling for holistic playing, etc.
- Collaboration, literary play, and for children: a song of
their choice at the end.

The foundation is breath-supported, holistic playing technique and musical appreciation according to Sandor Vegh.

FOR ADULTS:
Refinement of playing techniques and connection with the breath column. Musical expression. Repertoire playing. Stylistic accuracy. Musical and technical development of elements typical of the respective era/style.

FOR CHILDREN:
I enjoy teaching using the Rolland String Method, among others. Furthermore, I have a whole "toolbox" of methodology thanks to my 30 years of teaching experience, so many different methods can be used depending on the child's needs.
Beginner lessons are possible using a method I developed without sheet music, allowing the notes to be introduced gradually and playfully.
I teach in a fun, child-friendly way using colors and lots of pictures. I always cater to the needs of my students.
