About Arjun

Greetings my fellow students!

My name is Arjun Amane, and I am a student at the University of Sydney studying Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science (yes, it is as interesting as it sounds!).

I will be your tutor for Mathematics, and you will come to love the subject as I have (if you do not already).
When I graduated high school, I had an HSC mark of 95% in Mathematics Standard and was ranked 1st in my cohort for the subject.
This was not because I was smarter than my peers, but because I enjoyed the subject more! I believe that I can open your eyes to why Mathematics is the best subject on the planet... it is the language of the Universe!

But more importantly, I am keen to help guide bright young minds so that we can, together, make the world a better place!

About the lesson

Typical length of lesson: 2hrs (1:30 in learning and revising, 30 mins for help with school work, if needed)

Experience: as an older brother who helps out his younger brother in mathematics. As an intermediate-level basketball player, coaching beginners in the game. As a go-to guy in class for maths problems that my classmates find difficulties with.

Lessons for: primary school students (Years 5,6) and junior high school students (typically Year 7s) in need of guidance in Mathematics.

Description:
There is no better way to advance our society than to care about the education of the next generations. I believe, that as teachers and tutors, we must take careful consideration of each individual student's approach to understanding concepts taught in class.

We need to be more patient with some students, while others understand concepts faster, and that is okay. Showing them that we care about their learning will encourage them to ask more questions when they don't understand something.

Additionally, given that I am 18 years old, establishing a relationship where students think of me as more like them rather than a 'teacher' will help create a more fun environment where pupils will pay more attention to what I have to say.

I have had many tutors throughout my high school experience, and I found that I could relate most to the ones that were closer to my age. This is exactly what I want to offer my students. So even though I do not have experience in teaching academic subjects, I am excited to guide students as best as I can so they have a positive learning experience.
