About Richie
I graduated from Wesleyan University with a double major in math and computer science. I scored a 1570/1600 on the SAT with a perfect math score, and I graduated with a 3.95/4.00 overall GPA.
In addition to tutoring math, I’ve worked as a freelance data science consultant for the past two years. My work has mostly involved processing datasets using Excel and Python.
I’ve tutored students on a variety of topics, including, but not limited to, pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry and geometry, precalculus, calculus, Abstract Algebra, Statistics, and SAT Math.
Some of my personal interests are rock climbing, science fiction and fantasy novels (favorite: Hyperion), and Effective Altruism.

My tutoring style emphasizes connecting complicated-seeming concepts with their first-principle foundations. I want students to understand that the math they're working on can often be understood using a small number of simple axioms.
Here are some of the techniques I rely on in my lessons:
- Patient and friendly approach that helps students relax and enjoy the problem-solving process
- Emphasis on multiple perspectives: I illuminate various ways to understand any given concept, recognizing that sometimes a perspective shift is all that's needed for a concept to "click"
- Focus on building intuition and deep understanding, not just memorization of formulas
- Tailored lessons that adapt to each student's learning style and pace
