As a private speedcubing teacher, my approach focuses on customizing classes to the needs and abilities of each student, depending on the type of cube (2x2, 3x3, Square-1, Clock, Pyraminx, 3x3 one-handed, etc.).
TEACHING TECHNIQUES AND METHODOLOGY
1. Initial Assessment: I begin with an assessment to understand the student's current level and goals. This includes a brief demonstration of the student's current solving capability, if applicable.
2. Structured Teaching: I use a progressive approach, starting with basic methodologies and moving towards more complex techniques.
3. Advanced Methods: For those looking to significantly improve their times, I teach advanced methods (e.g., 3x3: CFOP, 2x2: Ortega, Pyraminx: L4E).
4. Practice and Exercises: Beginners start by learning the basic method, which uses the minimum number of algorithms and is the simplest to understand. Advanced students will learn progressively more complex methods.
5. Constant Feedback: I provide continuous feedback, highlighting achievements and pointing out areas for improvement in a straightforward manner.
EXAMPLE OF A CLASS PROGRAM
1. Introduction and Objectives: Brief review of the previous session or initial evaluation and establishment of objectives for the current class.
2. Algorithm Review: Review of previously learned algorithms and techniques, focusing on the progress made.
3. Teaching New Concepts: Introduction of a new technique or algorithm with a detailed explanation and demonstration.
4. Guided Practice: Practice of the new concept with real-time supervision and correction.
5. Complete Resolution (if capable): Complete resolution of the cube applying all the techniques learned so far, using a stopwatch to measure progress.
6. Feedback and Homework: Comments on the class and assignment of homework for the next session.
PARTICULARITIES AS A TEACHER
- Patience and Adaptability: I understand that each student learns at their own pace, so I am patient and adapt my methods to each individual.
- Enthusiasm and Motivation: My passion for speedcubing is contagious, and I always strive to keep students motivated and excited to improve.
- Competitive Experience: With experience in competitions, I can share practical strategies and advice that go beyond basic theory.
WHO ARE MY CLASSES AIMED AT
My classes are aimed at a wide range of students:
- Beginner Level: Those who want to learn how to solve the cube for the first time.
- Intermediate Level: Students who already know the basics and seek to improve their solving time.
- Advanced Level: Speedcubers looking to perfect advanced techniques and prepare for competitions.
My goal as a teacher is not only to teach how to solve the Rubik's cube but also to inspire and motivate my students to achieve their goals in speedcubing, enjoying the learning process and continually improving.
