About Elizabeth
I'm a saxophonist, woodwind doubler and composer from New Zealand. I hold a Bachelor's of Music (first class honors) from the New Zealand School of Music and am currently completing my Master's degree in performance and composition. I've been teaching music and playing professionally for over eight years across a wide range of genres and musical styles. My background is in jazz and improvised music but I love to make music in any context and have a particular passion for songwriting and folk styles. Some of my favorite work to date has been co-composing and arranging horn and string parts for tracks for various NZ-based bands and instrumentalists. I've also loved playing as a bandleader and sideperson across many musical contexts and genres, from reggae bands touring the NZ summer festival circuit to a four-part vocal ensemble performing original folk music. I've been teaching for over eight years both privately and as an itinerant music teacher in music departments at high schools and music camps. Most recently I completed a summer interning at the Brooklyn Music School as a music teacher and have a roster of private students in NYC, so have a good understanding of the American music education context.
