I teach using cinema music, I teach students the basic technique of holding, blowing, notes and scales(swaras and basic ragas) and then jump into songs then I teach the theory that is used in the song, like simple raga identification, flute techniques and knowledge of Western scales and Indian raga equivalents, ear training etc,people can ask any song of their choice I'll simplify the song and also teach the theory used in the song
