About Marissa
I am a Dance Major at Drexel University pursuing a Bachelor of Science as my degree. I have a minor in Somatic Practices and am currently getting my mat, mixed equipment, and reformer Pilates certifications through the Drexel Pilates Training Program. I have recently completed a six-month internship as the Assistant to the Studio Manager at commercial hip-hop dance studio Brickhouse NYC, and even taught a contemporary fusion class there! I have been teaching dance for six and a half years between ages 4 and 18+ in hip-hop and contemporary techniques. I also have choreographed and set two ten-minute length pieces on the Drexel Dance Ensemble, and have performed in 10 pieces with them. I also performed in the opening number of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2024 with Billy Porter!

In our sessions...we will: learn proper techniques with the appropriate contexts behind them, learn choreography with feedback in return, and dive into your creativity and self-expression. We can also communicate about specific things you want to hone in on and gear our lessons towards those things. If choreography is what you are looking to get into, we will focus on musicality, choreo retention, and the degree of professionalism that is looked for in the dance industry. These lessons are geared to meet you where you are at in your dance journey, so no matter where you are, feel encouraged to take a step forward and try something new!
