About Sàvio

Hi! I’m Sávio, a professional singer and vocal coach with a Bachelor’s degree in Classical Music Performance. I’ve been fortunate to perform on stages around the world, from grand opera houses to contemporary music venues. My career spans multiple genres, including Baroque, Classical, Contemporary, Oratorio and more. As a contratenor, one of the rarest male voices, I bring a unique understanding of vocal technique and artistry to my teaching.

Throughout my journey, I’ve won prestigious awards, including the highest honor in an opera competition in South America, and have been invited to perform in major international events. My extensive experience on stage has given me the insight and skills to help singers at all levels, from beginners to advanced performers.

In my teaching, I combine the latest vocal techniques with a student-centered approach, focusing on your individual goals. Whether you want to explore your voice for the first time or refine advanced skills, I’m here to guide you every step of the way with patience, encouragement, and expert advice.

When I’m not singing or teaching, I love exploring different art forms and disciplines, including Japanese martial arts, which have enriched my approach to performance and life.

  • 1) When did you first develop a passion for music and your favorite instrument?

I started studying music at the age of six, when I was trained to sing in sacred Latin choirs. At eight, I performed my first opera role, and in 2020, during the pandemic, I created my first original operatic role. I graduated in Music Performance in 2022, and for the past six years, I have been teaching remotely, working with over 200 students from various countries.

I was raised in an extremely musical environment, where my passion for music was always present. Many members of my family encouraged me throughout this journey, providing me with unwavering support and reinforcing my love for singing and performing.
  • 2) Is there a particular type of music or artist that you can listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

I have a deep love for Baroque opera, particularly Handel, which is also my favorite repertoire to sing. However, I also admire artists like Björk, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Marina Lima, and various experimental musicians from different genres.
  • 3) Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

I specialize in helping students take on ambitious challenges, whether it's transitioning into a full-time music career or learning to sing opera from scratch. These processes require technical mastery, emotional resilience, and a structured learning approach, which I tailor to each student's needs. I find it particularly rewarding to guide students as they build confidence, refine their vocal technique, and achieve milestones they once thought were impossible.
  • 4) What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

The voice, without a doubt. Unlike other instruments, singers must perform on stage while navigating different languages and musical styles. In college, we are trained to sing in at least five different European languages and master various styles spanning over 400 years of operatic and musical theater traditions. This makes singing one of the most demanding and versatile musical disciplines.
  • 5) What are your keys to success?

Practice, practice, practice! If you commit to consistent and mindful practice, you will succeed.
  • 6) Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favorite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

Björk - She is one of the most innovative and original artists of our time. Her creative vision and approach to music are truly unparalleled.

Marina Lima - A brilliant composer and singer from my country, she remains an underrated gem outside Brazil. With over 50 years of career experience-including the challenges of creating art under a military dictatorship-Marina would have incredible insights to share.

Maria Callas - The greatest vocalist in human history. No other singer in recorded music comes close to her technical precision and deep understanding of her craft. It would be fascinating to hear her vocal secrets and insights firsthand!
  • 7) Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

One of my proudest moments was winning my first operatic singing competition after just one semester of training. Encouraged by this, I entered an international competition months later, despite being told I was too inexperienced. I reached the Top 10 in Latin America and, years later, returned to the same competition to win the top prize.

This experience taught me the power of persistence. Many people tried to discourage me, but I followed my instincts and proved to myself that dedication and resilience can lead to extraordinary achievements. Today, I share this mindset with my students, encouraging them to trust their abilities and never let self-doubt hold them back.
  • 8) What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

I'm always there for my students! If I'm awake, I'm answering their questions. I prepare my lessons carefully, I'm highly flexible, and my humor is well-known for being uplifting and positive. My goal is to make every lesson both enjoyable and deeply enriching.
