About Matan

I am an Israeli peace activist and been teaching Hebrew in different Ulpanim in Israel and abroad, and online for many years...! I am passionate about Hebrew and about Israeli music, which I use a lot in my classes. I have taught not only English speaker but also Spanish, Portuguese and French speakers. About the lesson

Speaking Hebrew isn't just talking and understanding, but also writing and reading. I teach all of these 4 skills and I have students who started from 0 and 3 years after they are fluent - still on their own Hebrew journey. Ready to start your own Journey? I teach either privates which are more costly - or groups on zoom/in person in London(fewer) which are really cheap and a great way to engage with other Hebrew learners 1.5 hour a week running for 10 weeks! I teach using Israeli music and some audios to practise listening comprehension. In higher levels I integrate texts from books like עברית בשניים (רמה ב) עושים עניין (רמה ג) בין השורות (רמה ד) and discussing issues like culture, identity and politics. I also run special summer courses for higher levels such as Israeli society and introduction to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

He operates with lots of different study materials and methods and equally and more importantly -joyfully leads you to development of speaking, writing, listening and reading. After several lessons with Matan, I am happy to recommend him. It is clear that Matan has a lot of teaching experience and manages to strike a good balance of being both assertive and considerate. He knows the best times to push you, but also when to slow things down if you are struggling. The lessons are well structured and the homework is useful without being too onerous. I feel like I have seen great results from the start.

I think it also helps that Matan is an amiable, approachable person so you feel comfortable throughout. Such an important quality when learning a new language (IMO).
