I write up goals for each area that my student needs to improve. As a special education teacher I have to write individualized goals for each area that the student needs help.These plans are called IEPs - Individualized Education Plans. I implement the same goal/plan setting during my tutoring sessions. I teach a phonics reading program called Spalding that helps my students to read at grade level and above, as well as be able to spell at grade level and above. Part of teaching Reading is teaching vocabulary/sight words that is at their level and above grade level. In Math I go over how to solve word problems, as well as general math skills in Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication Division, Telling Time, and Money. In helping my students with Written Language/ Language Arts, I use a program called Write Up to teach how to formulate an Introduction Paragraph and supporting details to the main paragraph and a conclusion. I also teach Parts of Speech / General Language Arts. My goal is to help my students gain confidence in their abilities, general overall growth & improvement, and pass the Arizona State Requirement tests. I want my students to enjoy learning and think of themselves as learners.
