About Audrey
Hi, my name is Audrey. I'm a passionate special education teacher with a strong background in working with students with special needs (Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Traumatic Brain Injury, etc.). With a Bachelor's in Liberal Studies Preparation for Teaching and an ongoing Master's in Special Education, I've dedicated my career to empowering students to reach their full potential.
As a full-time special education middle school teacher, I've gained valuable experience in both resource and inclusion settings. I'm also a provider of home hospital instruction for a nonverbal and blind student, which has deepened my understanding of diverse needs.
I'm patient, love working with kids, and believe in providing students with the tools they need to succeed in life. My experience in the classroom has highlighted a significant gap in students' social and life skill development. This realization inspired me to offer tutoring services to help students build independence and confidence. I'm also committed to providing parents with the reassurance and support they need as their children grow.

I specialize in equipping special needs students with the essential life skills they need to thrive independently. My tutoring approach emphasizes practical, real-world learning through place-based education. Each tutoring experience is tailored to your child's unique needs and strengths, focusing on building a strong foundation of self-awareness and social skills, such as effective communication and peer interaction. Alongside these, we will develop essential life skills like cooking, money management, cleaning, problem-solving, and community navigation. Tutoring sessions may include practice in essential life skills like measuring ingredients, mastering safe cooking techniques, handling and counting money, and practicing grocery store transactions. Before venturing into the community, students will develop the confidence and skills needed throughout tutoring sessions. By combining classroom instruction with hands-on experiences in real-world settings, I empower learners to build confidence, independence, and a strong foundation for a fulfilling life.
