About Sofia
Learning the flute as an adult is a brave, beautiful act—and it’s my honor to support students through that journey. I specialize in teaching individuals aged 50 and above who want to explore music with patience, care, and personal meaning. Whether you’ve always loved the sound of the flute or are looking for a creative hobby that brings calm and inspiration, I tailor lessons to meet you where you are. We begin with fundamentals: how to produce a clear tone, breathe efficiently, and develop finger agility. From there, we gradually introduce music reading, phrasing, and rhythm—but always at a pace that feels natural and encouraging. I believe that music is not just about learning pieces, but about learning how to listen to yourself. I use a variety of tools—recordings, visual aids, play-along tracks—to reinforce progress and keep things interesting. If you're someone who learns best by repetition, movement, storytelling, or analogy, I adapt my methods accordingly. Every student has a different path to musical expression, and I’ll help you find yours. My goal isn’t just to teach you flute—it’s to help you feel proud of what you’re creating, every step of the way.

In my flute teaching practice, I strive to make music accessible, fulfilling, and personal. I specialize in working with adult learners who are either new to the flute or returning to it after years—sometimes decades—away. I know from experience that adult students often need a different kind of support: one that values their life experience, accommodates their pace, and celebrates small victories.
I use a hybrid method that brings together classical techniques, real-time digital feedback, and student-driven repertoire choices. Whether we’re working on tone production, rhythmic accuracy, or expressive phrasing, I always keep lessons rooted in curiosity and creativity. If you’ve been told you’re “not musical” or worry you’re starting too late, let me reassure you: music is for everyone, and it’s never too late to begin.
