About Derek

I have tutored many friends, and fellow students seeking help with their Algebra, Pre-Calculus, and Calculus courses.
Prior to completing all my mathematics courses, I was a skydiving instructor. I taught nearly 200 skydiving students to skydive by themselves, and nearly 1000 skydiving students to do tandem skydives.
I enjoy teaching people who are eager to learn and who are struggling in their specific courses.
You must be willing to learn and apply yourself, in order to excel in mathematics courses. Students that I have tutored in the past, have passed their classes with A's and B's.
I will first begin by taking a close look at the work that you are seeking help with. Then I will get a good feel for your level of understanding of the material. If you are behind and need help catching up, that will be priority. You must be proficient with various areas of mathematics in order to keep up and understand what you are being taught in class and expected to know.

About the lesson

My name is Derek. I am a Senior in college at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Management, with a major in Engineering Science. I have completed all mathematics and engineering courses for my degree. I am very proficient with Algebra and Calculus. My first 3 years of college, I attended Middle Tennessee State University, which is where I found an interest in mathematics and completed most of my courses.
I have completed the following mathematics courses throughout my college education: Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, Calculus 4, Linear Algebra, & Differential Equations.
I prefer to meet you at your home for tutoring. I will assist with homework assignments, and preparation for quizzes and exams. My preferred method of teaching is with a dry erase board, which I will provide. I struggled with Algebra in high school and with Calculus 1 in the beginning of college. I now understand why students get overwhelmed and have difficulty with these courses. I will ensure to break down step by step, the easiest methods and solutions to ensure you understand the material covered.
