I teach in the “classical” Method , performance , theory and technique. Students learn to read music , understand music , perform . My approach is creative , I add in technology where appropriate, typically as a reward in the last few min of lesson . I don’t hound students about how many minutes a day they practice . I know if they practice , they know ... and if I am doing my job correctly they won’t want to not practice . It is FUN to accomplish something .My students and I laugh together all the while remaining serious about learning . I do not take students to competitions or force any competitions . I do work with students who are choosing to compete . I firmly believe that not only the student (assuming under 18) has to be committed , the family has to be committed to their child’s success . EX: gotta provide instrument to practice on , attend lessons , create space in their schedules to practice , parent /caregiver has to take an interest . And by all means turn music on at home and listen and dance , smile and dream!
There is a world to learn through listening !!!! I want my students not to be simply a person who plays the piano I want them to be musicians in their soul , regardless of the end result . Music is the key to the soul !
I have taught private piano and music theory for 10 years . I have played piano for 47 years . Bachelors decree and some Master’s work . Mom of 5 . Music is my absolute passion . I had tough piano instructors and no fun , I decided to be the teacher I always wanted and I am ! I am super proud of that . I have great students that stay with me for years , it is so rewarding to watch them grow and be privy to the process !
First — very accommodating to the challenges and demands of managing a family and their children’s schedules! I’ve seen her in action for a number of years.
Her methods and positive approach keeps the student interested and challenged in clever, constructive ways—great with start-up students as well. Communicates with Moms and schedulers responsively! Robin is a gem!
Robin has gone above and beyond during my son's lessons. She’s a fantastic piano teacher who truly cares about her students and she is relatable. My son said, “Robin actually cares about my life!” And this is all on top of the fact that she knows what she’s doing. Robin has more piano experience than I could ever expect in a teacher. She also gives lesson plans and projects for the kids to work on at home if they truly want to get better. Thanks for all you do Robin!!
Robin is consistent and an excellent communicator. I trust her wholeheartedly with my children because she has shown herself to be kind, empathetic, and gentle. She does not get flustered and is ever gracious. She looks for unique and creative ways to teach fundamentals and makes music even more fun than it already is!
