About Lisa
I have been a classroom teacher for 15 years, and worked to get my masters in education shortly before COVID. After realizing that I was seeing more and more students with dyslexia in my classroom, I decided I wanted to find another way to help students! I left the classroom and got trained in Orton-Gillingham so that I could tutor one on one with students that are struggling readers, or that have dyslexia. I love that I can provide individualized lesson plans to each one of my students AND I get to work with them one on one!

Does your child seem to struggle with reading? Do they flip flop letters or numbers? Are they struggling to remember words that are used frequently in text? All of these are signs that your child may have dyslexia. This can make learning to read, spell, and write very difficult. The good news is, there is a program that can help your child gain confidence and tools to overcome these issues! During our Orton-Gillingham lessons we will practice phonics, reading, spelling and writing. The lessons are predictable, and consistent allowing your child to feel confident that they know what to do, and they know what to expect! Lastly, the tools they are given throughout the lessons assist them when reading, spelling and writing. Each lesson lasts between 45 - 60 minutes and requires a 2 inch binder, and access to a printer for weekly sheets.

Details
Each lesson consists of writing, reading, and phonics. We run through nearly identical components during each lesson. This builds consistency, trust, and confidence in my students. Each lesson takes between 45 and 60 minutes to complete. I create individualized lessons for each student, and for each session. Any remaining minutes not spent in a session go towards my prep time in creating individualized lessons. If the lesson is less than 60 minutes, the compensation is not pro-rated. It takes additional time to prep each individualized lesson and the $60 an hour will go towards that time as well.
