About Isla

With a Master’s in Spanish for the Professions and over 9 years of tutoring experience, I love helping retired learners connect with the Spanish language in a low-stress, engaging way. My approach is nurturing and goal-oriented, yet never rushed. I take time to listen and understand what brings you to the language. My students enjoy learning through cultural stories, conversational games, and light, accessible texts. We practice pronunciation, vocabulary, and everyday phrases that build confidence and comfort. I also bring in context from Spanish-speaking countries—like customs, art, and history—to make lessons rich and interesting. It’s not just about grammar, it’s about enjoying the process. No matter your starting point, there’s joy in every step. Spanish has a rhythm and warmth all its own. I’d love to help you feel it.

About the lesson

Spanish for medical situations needs to be both clear and compassionate. That’s how I design my teaching approach. We begin with focused drills on key vocabulary—body parts, symptoms, medication, and procedures. Then, we turn that knowledge into action through speaking exercises and real-life role-play. You’ll learn how to ask and answer patient questions with ease. My sessions focus on active listening, cultural awareness, and building confidence in speaking. I customize lessons for healthcare professionals, and simplify for hobbyists and travelers needing quick, effective phrases.
