About Derek
I hold a BA in Physics and bring over 6 years of teaching experience. My specialty lies in condensed matter physics and materials science. I guide students through concepts like crystal structures, superconductivity, semiconductors, and band theory. My lessons highlight how these ideas drive technological progress—from energy grids to electronics. The study of solids and liquids at the atomic level becomes both meaningful and inspiring. I use a blend of explanation, discussion, and application to strengthen understanding. Students gain both depth and confidence in their learning. I believe Physics is a path to discovery. I believe the best way to learn Physics is to feel its story. My classes are full of interactive lessons, storytelling, and real-world examples. Students who fear equations soon discover they can understand concepts without pressure.
Everyday events like heating water, flying planes, or watching stars become teaching opportunities. Visual aids and small experiments keep students engaged. We also look at the historical roots of discoveries and their philosophical impact.
