About Hailey
My experience as an elementary teacher and with small group intervention lends perfectly toward being an effective tutor. After teaching full-time in my own classroom, I hung up my badge, started a family of my own, and now work part-time as a substitute teacher (in addition to tutoring). By keeping my foot in the classroom door, it helps me stay on the cutting edge of education best practice and keep my teaching tools tuned up.

Do you need an extra boost in a class? Maybe you are an elementary student looking for extra support on your homework, or you would benefit from one-on-one practice in specific academic areas to help you reach grade level. Perhaps you are a middle school student that is seeking help with developing study methods for you upcoming tests. Or maybe you are a high schooler who is preparing for the PSAT and needs someone to help you really sharpen your skills to do your best on the upcoming assessment.
If you can relate to any of the above profiles, look no further. As a former elementary teacher with experience in reading and math small group intervention, I specialize in getting to know students' learning styles and patterns and strategizing to help them excel academically with the tools that they are naturally wired with.
Typically, during a lesson, I will introduce a skill, model how to perform it, invite the student(s) to participate with me, and then guide student(s) as they perform the skill on their own. We will continue to practice together until the student demonstrates mastery of the skill independently. This process is known as the Gradual Release of Responsibility, which is a fundamental part of learning, no matter the age, stage, or ability. By using this evidence-based practice in a one-on-one setting, my students will be more equipped to handle their academics independently, and will learn the skills that will propel them forward in all of their studies.
