About Lawrie

I have a 2:1 Master of Mathematics degree from Oxford University (4 years), a Maths Teaching degree from UCL (London), 4 A*s in A-levels (Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry) and 9A*s and 1A in GCSEs. I have also tutored privately and taught in secondary schools since 2019. One of my main strengths and passions in teaching is helping students become independent learners, not limited by any of their teachers- this journey towards becoming academically independent was one of the 'breakthroughs' of my learning life growing up, which I discovered through trial and error. I love sharing the keys I've discovered on my own learning journey and have great joy in students discovering them too. I am passionate about many things and live a life of continual learning; Biblical Hebrew, playing the saxophone, programming, nature, gardening. I love getting to know my students, and one of my favourite things about teaching is meeting the diverse array of students out there, and being able to help them.

About the lesson

My lessons are for anyone wanting to learn and be better at mathematics- Primary School, Secondary School and Adult learners. My main focus is always to teach students how to teach themselves: this was how I managed to get top GCSEs and A-levels, and how I've continued to learn pretty-much anything I put my mind to. I have tutored for the past 3 years many students from all sorts of backgrounds; students from primary school, secondary school and also adult learners. My lessons will continually be focused on developing the right mindset for doing and learning mathematics, and to build self-confidence, helping you overcome any lies about mathematics and yourself that are holding you back from academic excellence. I sincerely believe anyone can be successful at mathematics- it just takes the right approach.

Perfect! Lawrie is a FANTASTIC tutor! His knowledge of the topics I needed help on was amazing. His teaching style develops a more independent and out the box approach which makes answering harder exam questions ALOT easier. Classes are cheaper; it is £15 per student for a group class, so if you have other classmates/friends that you would like to learn mathematics with, taking lessons together would be cheaper.
