I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Ishan through the Maidenhead Chess Club in Berkshire. From the outset, it was clear he was an exceptionally strong player—he won the club championship in his very first year, a feat that speaks volumes about his ability.

During my captaincy tenur at Kandy YMCA, Ishan was the coach during 2018-2022 period. Kandy YMCA was promoted to top tier division in SL chess. During his tenure, Kandy Y became runners up in 2019 and 4th in 2021. He promoted chess for juniors in Kandy region through YMCA. He's a big facilitator and people manager, well organised and a true professional.
