My approach to tutoring you/your child can vary depending on your learning style and type of content. A typical structure of a session with new content would be as follows (for an hour long session)
1. Introduction
-> 1-5 mins of casual chat to allow you/your child to be comfortable, ready and receptive to the session.
-> Quick recap and discussion about current struggles/achievements and last session
-> Warm up quick fire questions of past topics to consolidate and find any holes in understanding
-> Introduction to todays topic(s) and the objectives of the tutoring session
⸻⸻⸻
2. Core Content
-> Tutor led overview of topic covering easy parts
-> Green Questions - easier, new questions containing the basic content (may be skipped if student is already aware of the basic concepts)
-> Explanation of more advanced concepts
-> Yellow Exam Style Questions -start off by going through worked examples, (explaining exam techniques if applicable) and leading onto independently solving the exam style questions.
⸻⸻⸻
3. Furthering Understanding
-> Further explanation of content ‘edges’ covering highest complexity content within the syllabus (may not be applicable at start of sessions if working with students struggling with the subject, will spend more time reinforcing the core content to bring them up to speed) ️
-> Red Extension Questions - highest difficulty exam questions and questions which aim to intrigue the student to get them more interested in subject (may skip hard questions and shorten this section depending on the students’ understanding of core content.
⸻⸻⸻
4. Conclusion
-> Conclusion of session with quick fire questions about core content covered today, going over the objectives today and creating synoptic links between past and upcoming topics.
-> Session feedback on pace, understanding and satisfaction.
⸻⸻⸻
Homework/further assignments:
-> would usually be set, if students/parents don’t think it would lead to too much workload on top of school work and other activities as it is not necessarily valued to put students under undue stress, similarly homework content can be lengthened or shortened. ️ This is something I would usually work out in the first lesson.
⸻⸻⸻⸻⸻
I work with a small set of students so then i can ensure that they get the best quality tutoring so it helps to contact me in advance if you are looking to find long term tutoring, so then you have a good choice for regular appointments.
Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or enquiries.
Looking forward to working with you!

Will is a close friend of mine, and I know he is an excellent educator. He can explain to me the complex, advanced physics he studies and somehow can make it easy to understand for inexperienced people like me. He is passionate about education, and has a knack for explaining things people might not understand in a memorable way.
