About Edward
Over the last 4 years, I have deconstructed genres, dug through books, and researched acoustics to develop my own understanding of why I love music. My value as a tutor comes not only from sharing my knowledge of music production, but my ability to help you develop your own perspectives. By encouraging your artistic intuition and technical comprehension regarding sonic art, I hope to a facilitate you becoming the musician you see in your dreams.
I currently produce my own discography, perform live electronic music, and compose for various livestreams and visual projects. I have studied ableton, audio engineering, jazz theory, music history, and songwriting under a variety of personal tutors and collegiate instructors, so I not only have depth of knowledge in the field, but the ability to directly relate to the experience of students.
The first lesson is free, so if you are concerned with my aptitude, you can find for yourself that I am 100% authentic at no risk to your wallet.

My lesson plans are curated to the specific needs of the individual. We'll be working on defining something unique: your own personal approach to music - so no two students will ever have the same curriculum, or the same results.
My priority as a tutor is to help define your goals and understand your most difficult challenges in order to identify the specific strategies that will help you take the next steps in your musical journey. Some people need more help in engineering areas, others with music theory. Some people have plenty of technical skills but have trouble developing the bigger picture of their artistic vision. Regardless of your needs, each lesson will be flexibly curated, focusing on what you feel motivated to learn at that given moment.
Over the course of our lessons, I'll be responsible for ensuring that you establish a fundamental understanding of the tools you're using. We will not be copying paramaters, memorizing signal chains, or using presets, because that does no favors for developing your ear and teaches you nothing about sculpting sound. I believe it is important to understand WHY you're turning that knob or using that plugin, and I will call on my professional experience as a technical consultant to make sure I can communicate the real value of that knowledge in a way that works for you.
We'll approach your learning in a primarily hands-on fashion. I'll provide you with plenty of resources to read/watch on your own time (at no extra cost), but our tutoring sessions will be for questions/answers, topical explanations, and actually making music together. You'll be doing most of the driving, as I'm here to be your guide, and will do my best not to let my personal tastes and opinions overinfluence your style.
While I am mostly experienced in making different genres of EDM, no genre is off-limits. I am willing to work with anyone regardless of their chosen DAW, including people who don't use a DAW at all. Any area or topic under the grand umbrella of sonic study is fair game, as I am constantly pushing my own boundaries to not only offer more knowledge to my students, but move forward in my own story as a creator.

Perfect! Edward is a great tutor. Very knowledgeable and helpful.
Perfect! I booked Edward as a tutor because I wanted to get into music production on Ableton and I didn't know where to begin. I have made massive strides over the months and now have the confidence to grow and continue independently, thanks to Edward.
I have learned so much from him and enjoyed every step of the process. He explains new concepts to me in ways that I can understand, and I learn through applied practice.
Not only does Edward have the skills and talents to be tutoring music production, but he also takes a genuine interest in his students and wants them to achieve their goals. He would often ask me to show him the music I was listening and wanted to make, so he could identify characteristics from those songs that he could then teach me.
As a beginner, I can say for certain that Edward is the perfect tutor if you are looking to get into music production. But considering his abundance of knowledge and talent, I have no doubts that he would be the perfect tutor for musicians of all levels. I can't stress enough, Edward should be your next tutor!View more reviews

Edward is a talented musician and he is exceptional at sharing his love for music with students. He has a very holistic approach to teaching music production and does a great job of tailoring his lessons to the individual. There is a fine balance of theory and practical teachings that will help you progress quickly. In a short few weeks I already feel like I am listening to music with a more educated ear, and constantly thinking about how to refine my sound as a producer. There is a lot of content out there online for music production, but it can get overwhelming trying to wade through it all on your own. If you are considering Edward as a tutor I guarantee you will not regret it and expect to learn a lot about yourself while you are on the journey.
So helpful with java coding problems. I took this class in high school and Edward had much more insight than my java teacher. I am so grateful for the help Edward gave me, I wouldn't have gotten the A without him.
