  • 1) Can you tell us about your first experience using a computer?

I vividly remember my first experience with a computer! It was a Sunday morning when I found myself in front of my big brother's computer for the very first time.
The monitor was big and chunky, and the unit was so noisy you could tell something was going wrong! The computer was running on Windows 95, and it was the most technologically advanced software that I had interacted with so far. It is not very hard to guess what the first program I ran was but in case you wonder; it was Microsoft Paint of course! In retrospect, that was an excellent choice and a great way to introduce myself to this new technological world!
  • 2) What is the technological evolution that has marked you most and what will be, in your eyes, a turning point in this field?

Growing up, I witnessed a transformative journey in technology. The evolution of internet accessibility, rapid increases in speed, and advancements in software-defined the technological landscape. These changes ushered in a new era of connectivity and efficiency. However, the current pinnacle of the technological revolution lies in the advancements and use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). It stands as a game-changer, pushing the boundaries of what we thought possible. For me, a true turning point will come when technology aligns with ethical principles, ensuring fairness, privacy, and security for all users. Accessibility to these advancements should be universal, bridging gaps rather than creating disparities. Moreover, the focus should shift towards leveraging technology for the greater good, addressing global challenges, and enhancing the overall well-being of humanity. A future where technology is not just powerful but also ethical, inclusive, and oriented toward positive societal impact is the beacon guiding my vision of technological evolution!
  • 3) Explain your expertise, your interest in it, and, more broadly, its importance in the computer world.

My original background is in Architecture, and I am a certified Architectural Engineer. I have also received a Master in Architectural Computation which broadened my horizons when it comes to the synergies between Architecture and programming. believe that my genuine interest in the human experience when it comes to both physical and digital spaces, my design-focused background, and my technical knowledge are a combination of interests and skills that have been driving me forward. There are plenty of exciting possibilities when Design and Programming are combined and I think diversity in both skills and backgrounds can really benefit the tech world and push for innovation.
  • 4) Do so-called 'visionaries', such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg inspire you or do you have other role models?

I find inspiration in the achievements and forward-thinking of visionaries like Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg. Their contributions to technology and society are remarkable, and I appreciate the innovative spirit they brought to the table. However, it's crucial to approach their legacies with a critical mindset. While their successes are admirable, I believe it's paramount for big tech companies to prioritize their impact on the environment, respect data privacy, and actively work toward the betterment of humanity. We need to hold tech leaders accountable for the broader implications of their actions and advocate for ethical practices in the industry. In essence, acknowledging the positive aspects while remaining vigilant about potential pitfalls is key to shaping a responsible and beneficial technological landscape. When it comes to role models, there are a couple of teachers of mine that have had a very big impact on my journey so far and I would consider them closer to the concept of a role model because I have been truly inspired by their paradigm.
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

There is a "notorious legend" amongst Architectural Students, that your laptop will choose the worst possible moment to "betray you". As a submission deadline approaches, many have fallen victim to the laptop gods, experiencing catastrophic crashes and unpredictable spills of coffee on their machines, losing months of hard work. Having heard the cautionary tales from friends and narrowly escaping a couple of "blue screen" encounters myself, I adopted a preemptive strategy. After my second year, I was always armed with an external hard drive and the commitment to autosave! The lesson learned here is "Save early and save often!".
  • 6) What would you say to an uncomfortable person in front of a screen who says that "IT is too complicated"?

Entering the realm of computers and technology can undoubtedly seem intimidating for those unfamiliar with the digital landscape. The vast array of jargon, intricate interfaces, and complex systems can be overwhelming. However, it's crucial to recognize that, like any new skill, mastering technology requires time and patience. Having the right people to guide and teach you becomes pivotal in this journey. Whether it's patient mentors, accessible online resources, or supportive communities, finding the appropriate guidance is key. With the right support and a willingness to learn, the initially daunting world of computers can transform into an exciting realm of possibilities!
  • 7) What are your other passions, related or non-related to computers?

Beyond my tech-related pursuits, I am deeply passionate about maintaining a balanced and fulfilling life. Given the nature of my job, I find rejuvenation through physical activities like working, practicing yoga, and playing tennis. These activities not only contribute to my overall well-being but also provide a welcomed counterbalance to the demands of the tech world. Additionally, I have a big love for the arts - particularly painting, which allows me to express creativity and unwind. Exploring the palette and creating visual narratives serve as a therapeutic escape. On a different note, I also derive joy from the culinary arts. Cooking offers me a delightful blend of creativity and practicality, transforming ingredients into delicious meals!
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof in IT?

Coming from a family of educators has deeply influenced my passion for teaching, making me inherently inclined to share knowledge and foster learning environments. My background has instilled in me the value of education and the profound impact it can have on individuals! The intersection of my professional experience and passion for teaching creates a dynamic learning environment where practical insights meet theoretical understanding. I have a deep love for sharing knowledge and aim to make complex concepts accessible and engaging for students. My strong organizational skills ensure that lessons are well-structured and effective communication, another cornerstone of my teaching approach, ensures clarity and comprehension.
