About Mesh
Hi! My name is Mesh and I'm currently a third-year student at the University of Pretoria, where I'm pursuing my medical degree with a keen interest in the sciences. Before embarking on this challenging and rewarding path, I completed a Bachelor's degree in Science and Technology, which laid the foundation for both my academic pursuits and my passion for teaching high school physics, biology, and computer science.
Over the past three years, I have dedicated myself to tutoring students in these subjects, focusing on making learning accessible, enjoyable, and tailored to individual needs. My approach is rooted in the belief that education should ignite curiosity and foster a lifelong love for discovery. Through interactive lessons and real-world examples—often drawing from my medical studies—I strive to bring this philosophy to life for my students.
Balancing my medical studies with tutoring has taught me the value of perseverance, hard work, and empathy. We'll be using Discord, a versatile platform that allows for real-time voice, video, and text communication, making our lessons dynamic and engaging. Here's a little breakdown of how our sessions will unfold:
Pre-Session Preparation:
Before each session, you'll receive a message from me with the day's topic and any preparatory materials or questions to think about. This way, you can come to the lesson ready to dive deep into the subject matter.
Joining the Session:
At the scheduled time, you'll join a private Discord server where our lesson will take place. You'll find a dedicated channel for our tutoring sessions, ensuring privacy and focus.
During the Lesson:
We'll kick off with a brief overview of the day's topics, followed by an interactive lesson using Discord’s voice or video call feature. I'll share my screen when necessary to illustrate concepts, work through problems, or demonstrate examples.
You'll have the opportunity to ask questions, seek clarifications, and engage in discussions throughout the lesson. Discord’s text chat will also be available for sharing links, files, or quick questions.
Hands-On Learning:
Through Discord, I can provide immediate feedback on assignments or quizzes you complete during the session. This instant interaction supports a more effective learning experience.
Post-Session Follow-Up:
After the lesson, I'll share a summary of what we covered, along with any additional resources or assignments, directly in our Discord chat. This ensures you have everything you need to review the material and practice further.
Flexible Communication:
Outside of scheduled sessions, you can use Discord to send me questions or updates on your progress. I'm here to support your learning journey, even between our meetings.
