  • Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

I am a Robotics research engineer with a specialization in Machine Learning. My interest in this field developed early in my career when I started working as a robotics research teacher at an NGO trust in 2015. Alongside my teaching role, I was exposed to the world of video editing, thanks to a mentor who had worked as an Executive Editor at BBC for 28 years. His encouragement led me to explore video editing, which became a significant skill set for me. Over time, I juggled both robotics research and video editing, working on various industrial projects in Machine Learning and Robotics. My passion for robotics, however, remained the driving force, and I eventually chose to pursue full-time research in the field in 2021.
  • What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

My motivation to teach stems from my passion for sharing knowledge and helping others grow. Teaching allows me to give back to the community by sharing my experiences and expertise in subjects like robotics and machine learning. I can only teach in areas where I have significant proficiency, which makes teaching deeply rewarding for me. I've had the privilege of teaching a diverse range of students, from school children to Ph.D. scholars, and seeing their growth has been a major motivation for me. For example, one of my students, a high school girl, went on to outperform me in an international machine-learning competition. Her success was a direct result of the lessons I imparted, and it is moments like these that fuel my passion for teaching.
  • How does your work help society?

My work helps society by contributing to the fields of robotics, machine learning, and education. Through my research and industrial projects, I work on creating innovative solutions that can impact industries ranging from healthcare to manufacturing. Additionally, by teaching students of all levels, I am helping to equip the next generation of engineers, programmers, and researchers with the skills they need to succeed. Many of my students have gone on to secure better jobs, complete their university degrees, and even surpass me in their professional fields. This is a testament to the impact that teaching and mentorship can have on individuals and society as a whole.
  • If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

One of my most significant role models is Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. While many have read his life lesson books, I have had the opportunity to explore his technical papers and patents, from which I gained immense knowledge. Additionally, I greatly admire my video editing mentor, Mr. Edward, who has been an invaluable guide.
  • Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

Outside of teaching, my primary focus is on engineering. I have a deep passion for working on new prototypes in robotics and machine learning. I also enjoy exploring new engineering topics and learning about the latest tools and techniques in both robotics and video editing. While I don't have many hobbies outside of my work, I find fulfillment in continuously improving my skills and exploring new technologies that can push the boundaries of what is possible in my fields of expertise.
  • Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

One memorable story involves a high school student I taught Machine Learning. After two years of dedication, she invited me to participate in an online European programming competition. Competing with experienced professionals, she placed 11th, while I scored 49th. It was incredible to see how far she'd come.

I've also had other success stories: One of my students, Om, landed a job as a junior video editor at a news channel in the Gulf, and another student, Akshat, thanked me for helping him complete his university degree with good grades. He is now applying for a Master's degree in Data Analytics.

These stories remind me of the positive impact teaching can have on students' careers and lives.
