About Isabel
My name is Isabel and my life has revolved around music. I grew up in Venezuela and was part of Dudamel’s famous El Sistema group! As an ambitious student, I was accepted into my undergrad violin performance degree at the age of 16! After playing professionally in several orchestras, I went on to receive my master's in teaching (with a music focus) and have been a teacher ever since. In my spare time, I like to exercise and enjoy nature! I can’t wait to meet you and enjoy music together!

- My teaching method:
Our lessons will be based on the successful Suzuki Method. We augment the Suzuki Method with diverse method books, etudes, and solo repertoire. A lot of the lesson literature will be based on your level of experience and interests.
- A typical lesson plan:
Our lesson plans would be structured around (1) retaining past skills, (2) learning new skills, and (3) musicianship. A typical lesson might look like this:
Warm-up: this could be scales or exercises.
Technique: often this would be an etude or solo piece that features a specific technical aspect of string playing.
Musicality: this is where we will dive into your solo piece and work on the intangible aspects of music.
Warm-down: maybe this would include a quick exercise, then we would conclude with a summary and expectations for next week.
- What sets me apart?
I have a unique perspective on teaching. I learned music in Venezuela’s famous el Sistema program with Gustavo Dudamel. This taught me not only to play well, but to play with passion! I have also taught both in the classroom and privately for many years.
In addition, I am bilingual and feel comfortable teaching in both English and Spanish.
- Who should study with me:
A good candidate would be someone who has some experience with violin and is dedicated and open to trying new things and growing musically.
