About Sergio
My name is Sergio, I am an EDM DJ and producer with 3 different successful music projects (each a different genre and sound) where I've had the pleasure of opening up for big artists, playing in various Florida city venues, headlining a show, and playing 2 music festivals. I’m a self-taught DJ with dedication and passion towards the EDM scene and music. I love creating music and sharing it with others to make them dance and get jiggy to my flow. Over the years of practice and ambition I’ve earned my sets through hard work of music releases and winning DJ competitions. What sets me apart as a tutor Passion and Real-World Experience: I'm not just teaching from a textbook; I'm an active DJ with real-world experience in various settings. I can share practical insights and anecdotes that bring the learning to life. Patient and Encouraging Approach: I understand that learning takes time and effort. I create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. Focus on Musicality and Flow: While technical skills are crucial, I emphasize the artistic aspect of DJing – creating a musical journey and connecting with the audience. Holistic Approach: I cover not just the technical aspects but also the musical understanding, performance elements, and even some career advice if the student is interested. Adaptability and Customization: I don't have a rigid curriculum. I tailor each lesson to the individual student's needs, goals, and learning pace.

My teaching philosophy centers around active engagement and practical application. I believe that DJing is a skill best learned by doing, listening critically, and understanding the underlying concepts. Here's how I implement this:
Hands-On Practice is Paramount: I prioritize getting students on the decks (physical) as quickly as possible. We'll spend a significant portion of each lesson actively mixing, beatmatching, cueing, and experimenting.
Ears-On Critical Listening: I emphasize the importance of developing a keen ear for tempo differences, phrasing, harmonic clashes, and overall flow. We'll analyze tracks together, focusing on how different elements interact in a mix.
Mind-On Conceptual Understanding: I don't just teach how to do something, but also why. We'll explore music theory basics relevant to DJing (key, tempo, rhythm), understanding the structure of tracks, and the principles of creating a cohesive set.
Progressive Learning: I structure lessons to build upon foundational skills. We start with the basics and gradually introduce more complex techniques as the student progresses.
Personalized Instruction: I recognize that every student learns differently and has unique goals. I tailor my approach to match their learning style, musical interests, and aspirations. This involves adapting the pace, focusing on specific genres, and addressing individual challenges.
Visual Aids and Demonstrations: I utilize visual aids (screen sharing for software, diagrams, etc.) and provide clear, step-by-step demonstrations of techniques.
Constructive Feedback: I provide regular and specific feedback, highlighting both strengths and areas for improvement. My feedback is always encouraging and aimed at fostering growth.
Real-World Application: I connect the skills learned to practical scenarios, such as playing in different types of venues, recording mixes, and building a music library.
Encouraging Exploration and Creativity: While I provide guidance, I also encourage students to experiment, develop their own style, and find their unique voice as a DJ.

I just had my first lesson with Sergio, and it was fantastic. As a complete beginner with zero experience, I was nervous about how overwhelming DJing might feel. Sergio was incredibly patient and took the time to guide me step by step through both the hardware and software. His clear explanations and calm approach made everything so much easier to understand. What felt like an intimidating undertaking quickly became manageable and exciting thanks to his teaching style. I left the lesson feeling more confident and motivated to keep learning. Highly recommend!
