About Natalie
I am 30 years old. The first sound I ever remember appreciating was generated by a 32-key light up CASIO keyboard, age 5. From then I created sound with whatever I could touch, while mastering the clarinet from ages 12-16, and the bass guitar ages 15-present. I am not a classically trained musician, but I have had many lessons and lots of experience.
I graduated from Full Sail University twice. I received my Bachelors in Recording Arts, and my Masters in Instructional Design.
I've been in bands that have recorded, produced, and performed at professional levels. (Graces Downfall - Pennsylvania, and presently Bear in the Woods - Orlando).
I've worked for Guitar Center both as a sales rep and teaching bass guitar, so I have a good grasp on the best equipment brands and setting up rigs.
I've been to Victor Wooten's bass nature camp and have trained with some of the most famous bass players in the world.
Many of my jobs surrounding my music have involved children: camp counselor, birthday clown, and after school program facilitator. I enjoy helping people find an outlet to express themselves. It's beautiful to watch someone discover who they are and discover more about yourself as well.
Having beautifully compassionate music teachers gave me such a delightful life, I try my best to reflect their passion.

Everyone learns differently. I'm passionate about understanding each individual's learning needs to help them love to learn through music. I help others understand what keeps them engaged, their opportunities to explore, and habits they will enjoy, leading to success of their music/life goals. Learning through play, and art, and observing the way successes and failures effect a learning mind's thought process opens opportunities to approach many projects and events in life with confidence and enthusiasm. When you are able to enjoy learning, you can learn everything and anything you want!
What I use:
-Google Hangouts
-Google Classroom
-Google Soundtrap
(needless to say you'll need a gmail e-mail to sign in)
-Scratch.mit.edu account (free)
-any fun free resources I come across that week.
Through a quick survey and brief discussion discovering a learner's previous knowledge and skill, I can quickly design a personalized learning path that will support a student's unique intelligence and curiosity directed toward a musical creation, or documented improvement. These end results will be helpful whether it's to apply for a job, or just to brag about your latest projects to friends and family.
If either party feels the curriculum or my teaching style is not a good fit toward your learning needs or goals, concerns should be identified. I am very honest and I want you to succeed on your journey through the arts more than anything, so please be honest with me as well.
Examples of goals that learners can choose to meet:
-Learn a song on an instrument
-Write a song using Google
-Exploring a specific topic
-Complete Specific Personal Project
-Music Technology Understanding
-Music Industry Resources
-portfolio production workflow techniques
There will be one lesson a week and each lesson will end with a reflection and planned workflow schedule. After three lessons you will be able to look back at your documented improvement, and have a project that demonstrates the implementation of the knowledge you gained.
My goal is to reinforce a student's enthusiasm for the arts, help them understand their preferences of learning, and provide them with tools to believe in themselves.
