About Freya
With a Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory and over 7 years of teaching experience, I specialise in working with adult beginners and returning violinists. My approach focuses on making music enjoyable, accessible, and creative. I highlight non-classical genres such as folk, blues, worship, and jazz. Improvisation is taught gradually, helping students gain freedom and confidence. I use simple, practical exercises that make technical growth stress-free. Ergonomic posture is emphasised so students play comfortably and without strain. Mindfulness is woven into each lesson to create a relaxed atmosphere. I encourage exploration, allowing learners to choose music that inspires them. Lessons are flexible and paced according to student goals. Confidence and joy are just as important as skill. I believe that sight-reading is the foundation for musical independence on the violin. My approach is structured and systematic, giving students the tools to read fluently.
