About Rebecca
Everyone who meets and interacts with Dr. Williams clearly sees the passion behind her teaching. It’s difficult to identify just one event that created the great love she has for science. At a young age, she would spend time in her grandmother's garden with encyclopedias to identify and learn about the insects they found together. The quantity and variety of summer science camps she was able to attend as a child also made a huge impact. As a high school student she had amazing teachers that inspired her to work hard and shoot for the moon. As an educator now herself, Dr. Williams wants to enable her students to find their own passion for science. As owner and founder of Busy Beetle Science, Dr. Williams is responsible for planning and teaching seven (and growing) regular classes. Each course has its own unique approach to teaching science with a customized curriculum. Her students are engaged in hands-on activities during a majority of the class periods. Activities are adapted by Dr. Williams to tailor advanced subject matter to the students' age level for each lesson. Her process ensures that students have an introductory exposure to numerous core topics (normally reserved for older students) in the fields of physics, chemistry, engineering, biology and math. Dr. Williams founded Busy Beetle Science as a response to the changes in the world of education. She created Busy Beetle Science to ensure that students who desired education in these fields would have an opportunity to receive it. Busy Beetle Science focuses on students ages 4 – 18.

My Teaching Method & Approach
I focus on hands-on, inquiry-based learning that sparks curiosity and builds deep understanding. I don’t just lecture—students explore, question, experiment, and discover. Whether it's mixing up chemical reactions or dissecting specimens, science comes alive through interactive experiences. I also integrate cross-disciplinary skills like math, critical thinking, and communication into every lesson.
I prioritize a positive, encouraging environment. I meet each student where they are, adapting my teaching style to match their learning pace and interests. I blend structure with creativity to help students not only learn science—but love it.
A Typical Lesson Plan
Every lesson follows this flexible format:
Warm-Up / Review (5–10 min):
We revisit key concepts and prep the brain for learning.
Core Experiment or Activity (20–30 min):
This could be a messy lab, model-building, or a group challenge.
Guided Discussion (10–15 min):
We analyze what happened, connect it to scientific principles, and ask deeper questions.
Wrap-Up & Extension (5–10 min):
We summarize what we learned and talk about real-world applications or next steps.
Lessons are active, collaborative, and tailored for different ages and abilities.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
Real science made fun: I take topics typically taught in high school or college and break them down so younger students can understand them—without watering them down.
Dissections + Explosions: We do real labs—not just crafts. Kids love dissections, fizzing reactions, and colorful chemistry.
Background in STEM + education: I have years of experience in both science and teaching, allowing me to translate complex topics into engaging, age-appropriate lessons.
Parent partnership: I communicate clearly with families, and my classes are structured with homeschoolers and extracurricular learners in mind.
Flexible & supportive: Whether a student is gifted, behind grade level, or neurodivergent, I work with them to build confidence and skill.
Who My Lessons Are For
I offer science tutoring and group classes for:
Upper Elementary (ages 8–12):
Focus on biology, chemistry, and physics concepts with labs, models, and real experiments.
Middle School Chemistry (ages 11–14):
Ideal for homeschoolers or enrichment; we cover atoms, molecules, reactions, and more with lab-based instruction.
High School Biology (ages 13–17):
A full-year class with labs and dissections, suitable for homeschool credit or as a supplement to public/private school courses.
Preschool & Early Learners (ages 2–4):
My First STEM is a playful, sensory-based science class for toddlers and their parents.
