About Emma
I’m a committed guitar tutor with a Bachelor’s degree in Music and over eight years of experience helping students unlock their musical potential. My own journey with the guitar began as a teenager, and it quickly evolved into both a personal passion and a professional path. That deep connection to music has shaped not only how I play but how I teach—with care, clarity, and a real enthusiasm for sharing knowledge. Throughout my teaching career, I’ve worked with a wide range of students, from absolute beginners to advanced players looking to refine their skills. My approach is grounded in both technique and creativity. I aim to build solid fundamentals—like finger strength, rhythm, and fretboard knowledge—while also giving students space to explore styles they love, whether that's classic rock riffs, intricate fingerstyle, or jazz improvisation. I believe that learning the guitar should be both rewarding and enjoyable, so I tailor lessons to each student’s goals, pace, and musical taste. My background in music theory and performance lets me offer structured guidance, while my real-world playing experience keeps lessons practical and relatable. I strive to make each session not just informative, but also something students look forward to every week. Teaching guitar isn’t just about passing on technique—it’s about inspiring confidence, encouraging creativity, and building a lifelong connection with music. I find genuine joy in helping students surprise themselves with what they can achieve, and I’m grateful to be a part of their musical journeys. Whether your goal is to perform, write music, or simply play for yourself, I’m here to help you grow.

Guitar lessons are designed to meet each student where they are, whether you’re picking up the instrument for the first time or refining your technique after years of playing. I tailor each session to your goals and skill level, blending structure with creativity so learning stays engaging and productive. From the very first lesson, you’ll start developing practical skills that translate directly into playing real music.
Beginners will focus on essential topics like tuning, finger placement, open chords, and simple rhythms. As you progress, we’ll move into more complex techniques such as barre chords, scales, fingerpicking, and improvisation. Each concept is broken down clearly and applied through exercises and songs that reinforce the skill in a musical context. I place strong emphasis on understanding how music works, so we’ll also explore basic theory to strengthen your foundation.
For intermediate and advanced players, lessons offer the opportunity to dive deeper into genre-specific playing, solo construction, and music interpretation. Whether you’re into rock, blues, classical, or acoustic fingerstyle, we’ll work on refining tone, dynamics, and phrasing. I also encourage students to bring in their own musical interests, which we can incorporate into the lesson plan to keep things motivating and personal.
My goal is to create a supportive and flexible environment where you can explore your musical voice at your own pace. Whether you're working toward a performance, writing your own songs, or simply playing for fun, lessons are built to help you grow in both confidence and capability.
