About Sophia
I hold a Master’s degree in Music with a focus on violin performance and have taught privately and in group settings for over 7 years. My journey as a tutor began in 2016, and since then, I’ve helped many learners grow in skill, discipline, and confidence with their instrument. My background spans classical orchestral performance, solo recitals, and chamber music. I adapt my methods based on age and experience, always ensuring a clear path forward for each student. I value technique, but also nurture emotional connection to the music being played. Students describe my lessons as structured, encouraging, and inspiring. I believe that every violinist—whether hobbyist or aspiring professional—deserves thoughtful, personalized instruction. I strive to make every session productive and musically rewarding, helping students not only play better but enjoy the process of learning.

Lessons begin by focusing on proper instrument posture, bow hold, and tone production. These are crucial foundations for every violinist, whether you're an absolute beginner or revisiting the basics. We'll also cover reading sheet music from the start, ensuring musical literacy develops alongside playing confidence.
As skills progress, we explore scales, arpeggios, and simple etudes to build finger strength, precision, and rhythm. I place strong emphasis on intonation, bowing control, and left-hand agility, helping students improve their sound quality and performance fluency. Every step is designed to connect technical skill with musical awareness.
For advancing players, we introduce expressive phrasing, vibrato, and performance pieces tailored to the student’s goals. We also work on sight-reading, ensemble readiness, and audition preparation when needed. Whether playing classical repertoire, folk tunes, or modern arrangements, lessons offer a balance of structure, creativity, and challenge.
