About Esme

I am a passionate guitar tutor with 11 years of teaching experience and a strong background in world music. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Studies, which has given me a solid foundation in technique and musical expression. My expertise spans diverse styles, including Flamenco, Bossa Nova, Indian Classical Fusion, and African fingerstyle. I love introducing students to the richness of rhythmic diversity, exploring how different cultures approach timing, phrasing, and groove. Alternate tunings are a regular part of my lessons, opening doors to unique sounds and creative expression. I integrate music theory with practical playing, helping students understand both structure and feeling. Through guided exercises and repertoire, I encourage students to experiment, improvise, and find their own voice on the guitar. I also share insights into global musical heritage, showing how culture shapes melody, rhythm, and technique. Each lesson is personalized to the student’s goals, whether performing, composing, or simply enjoying music. I aim to make learning engaging, interactive, and inspiring.
