About Grace
I’ve spent over 8 years coaching chess across a wide range of ages and skill levels—from young beginners to experienced club players. My approach blends logic, patience, and practical insight to help learners progress confidently. I don’t just teach the game; I help you understand how to grow within it. My own chess journey began in school tournaments and evolved into regular coaching and competitive play. I’ve studied classical games, modern strategies, and psychological elements of the game, all of which influence my teaching. I especially enjoy breaking down complex ideas into easy-to-grasp lessons. Students often describe my sessions as structured, motivating, and calm. I believe every player improves best when they feel supported and challenged in equal measure. Whether your goal is to win local events, raise your rating, or simply enjoy the beauty of chess, I’m here to guide your path.

Every lesson begins with a short tactical warm-up followed by a deep dive into structured content such as openings, positional understanding, or endgame theory. Sessions are personalized based on your current level, ensuring you're always challenged but never overwhelmed. I place strong emphasis on helping you think critically during games, not just remember patterns.
Opening principles are taught with clarity, exploring both classical and modern systems. We study common traps, ideas behind key moves, and how to transition smoothly into the middlegame. You’ll learn how to develop quickly, control the center, and react confidently when facing unfamiliar lines in practical games.
Endgame fundamentals are a major part of the curriculum, with a focus on king activity, pawn structures, and converting small advantages. Lessons are interactive, with annotated games, guided analysis, and take-home puzzles that reinforce the concepts covered. The goal is long-term improvement and deeper understanding of the game.
