About Noor
I’ve been teaching violin for over 7 years, blending my background in composition with a love for genre-defying performance. I hold a Bachelor of Music in Composition with a focus on violin, and my passion lies in pushing the boundaries of what this instrument can do. From jazz and rock to hip-hop strings and world music, I help students explore the violin in bold, modern ways. I specialize in teaching how to use looping pedals and effects to create dynamic live performances. Improvisation is a big part of my lessons—we write solos, experiment with tone, and stretch musical ideas far beyond the page. I also help students adapt their favorite songs and explore unique textures using delay, reverb, and layered harmony. Each student brings a different voice, and I support them in finding it through creativity and experimentation. Whether you're new to the violin or looking to break out of classical norms, my goal is to help you sound like yourself. We’ll build skills and confidence in both technique and expression. I’ve worked with performers, creators, and hobbyists who want to make their playing fresh and exciting. If you're curious about reinventing your sound, let’s explore what’s possible. My teaching approach for violin centers on building confidence and creating meaningful performances. I help students manage performance anxiety through calming routines, mental focus techniques, and gradual exposure to stage settings. We work on stage presence, helping you look and feel comfortable in front of an audience.
Lessons include memorization strategies that make pieces easier to retain and recall under pressure. I guide students in preparing for recitals, exams, and competitions with clear practice plans and mock performances. Technique is important, but I also focus on emotional connection and storytelling through music.
We’ll explore musical expression, phrasing, and dynamics to leave a strong impression. I'm very good with The Classical Vocalist and The Jazz Vocalist, especially those aiming to match voice and violin with confidence. I support students in developing poise and presence that carry beyond the stage.
Each session is designed to boost your self-belief and performance quality. Mistakes are part of progress, and we’ll use them to grow. Together, we’ll turn nerves into energy. Let’s make your performance unforgettable.
