About Callum
With over 3 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance specializing in Contemporary Repertoire, I bring both classical depth and modern versatility to every lesson. My background is rooted in traditional technique, but I love helping students explore expressive possibilities beyond the page. Whether you're preparing orchestral excerpts or looking to refine your ensemble skills, I offer structured, goal-oriented guidance. I focus on bowing technique, vibrato control, and phrasing to help students find their individual sound. Interpretation plays a big role in my teaching, especially across Classical, Contemporary, and Cinematic styles. I support students in developing both precision and emotional range in their playing. I have experience preparing students for ABRSM and Trinity exams, and I also provide orchestral coaching for youth and school ensembles. My lessons include practical rehearsal strategies, listening exercises, and collaborative musicianship. I believe ensemble playing builds confidence, connection, and a deeper understanding of music. Through a mix of discipline and creativity, I aim to guide students in becoming expressive, adaptable players. My violin teaching approach is centered around building confidence and helping students deliver strong, expressive performances. We work on tone, phrasing, and musical interpretation, while also developing stage presence and handling performance nerves. I teach practical memorization techniques that make your music feel secure and natural. Preparing for recitals, auditions, and competitions is a key part of what I do.
