About Matthew

As a professional woman, I hold both a Ph.D. and an MBA, one from France and the other from UNC Charlotte. Currently, I work part-time in academic research. Prior to relocating to the U.S., I lived and worked in various countries. Recently returning from four years in France, where I worked remotely, I've now settled back in the U.S.

About the lesson

For the past decade, I've dedicated myself to tutoring students from elementary to college levels, guiding them to not only enjoy the French language but also feel confident speaking it in various settings. My approach aims to enhance their writing skills, leading to notable improvements in their grades.

Furthermore, I've collaborated closely with high school students to prepare them for French AP and IB exams, as well as assisting those planning to study in French-speaking countries with navigating the intricate administrative procedures involved. From college applications to securing housing and visas, I've provided comprehensive support throughout the process.

In my lessons, I emphasize conversation, grammar, and conjugation, encompassing all aspects of language learning: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. I'm passionate about sharing French culture through literature, films, music, and personal anecdotes. Grammar is a particular interest of mine, and I take pleasure in refining students' essays by offering constructive feedback on structure, vocabulary, and form.

Lastly, I've had the privilege of teaching adults aged 35 to 65 in the U.S., enriching their French language skills and cultural understanding.
