About Cleo
I’m a piano teacher with over 5 years of experience teaching both in-person and online, and I hold a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. My approach to teaching centers on building strong, well-rounded musicianship while encouraging students to play with intention and joy. I believe music is not just about playing the notes, but understanding the meaning behind them. In each lesson, I encourage active participation through thoughtful listening, mindful practice, and creative exploration. I adapt my teaching style to meet each student’s individual goals, whether they’re just beginning or already performing at a professional level. From classical to contemporary pieces, I help students develop technique, theory knowledge, and expressive interpretation. I also include elements of music history and stylistic context, allowing students to connect more deeply with what they play. My lessons are structured yet flexible, making space for both disciplined learning and musical curiosity. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel confident and motivated to grow. My teaching approach is designed to help each student build strong piano skills while staying inspired and motivated. I focus on structured development using chord progressions, scale work, rhythmic exercises, and a growing repertoire. Lessons are clear and goal-oriented, but always adjusted to fit the student's pace and interests.
I give real-time feedback so students can improve as they play, learning to hear and correct things on their own. Practice routines are engaging and practical, helping students enjoy their time at the piano while making steady progress. I work especially well with adults learning for enjoyment and those who love playing modern styles.
Together, we explore music that feels meaningful, from popular songs to expressive arrangements. I make sure theory connects to real playing, so students understand what they’re doing, not just how. We also work on technique in a way that feels smooth and natural—not stiff or overwhelming.
